Akanksha aims to provide a therapeutic environment free from judgment and facilitates growth and understanding. Akanksha’s approach is interdisciplinary and collaborative; she seeks to understand clients’ perspectives and, in partnership with clients, develop solutions to facilitate healing by incorporating individual strengths with diverse therapeutic methods. She recognizes that there is no “one size fits all” solution; all clients have different needs.

Akanksha has experience working with a wide range of populations and has worked extensively with children (8+) and families, as well as individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions and stress.

Being an immigrant, she is aware of and has lived experience of navigating the challenges immigrant individuals and families face. Along with English, she provides counselling services in Hindi, Marathi and Urdu.

Before becoming a therapist, Akanksha worked within the Autism sector, providing IBI (intensive behavioural intervention) and ABA (applied behavioural analysis) therapy to children and families with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Akanksha is a recent graduate of the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University, where she has studied various approaches to therapy. She has previously graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University. Akanksha is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Akanksha respects and understands that therapy can be vulnerable and challenging. She believes therapy is a powerful process that allows you to shift your emotions while accessing your strengths. She wants you to know that it is also an empowering choice, and she is here to support you. Akanksha would be honoured to work with you as you work toward your goals.
