Aamna is a passionate and dynamic Registered Psychotherapist with 8+ years experience in providing Psychotherapy to adults, adolescents, couples, children and families experiencing a range of psychological difficulties including Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Crisis, Phobia, OCD, Anger/Aggression, Sleep Disturbances, Suicidal Tendencies, Domestic Violence, Work stress, Parenting problems, Behavioral problems in children, Couple or Relationship issues.
Aamna’s work is inspired by eclectic approach in which she applies different therapeutic modalities based on the needs and best interest of her clients’. She predominantly uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focussed, Humanistic and Client Centred approach in her practice.
Aamna help her clients reach their full potential by facilitating them to explore and understand their own attitudes, belief’s, behaviours and ways of personal and professional interaction. She focuses on modifying their thought processes and belief system to achieve self-acceptance and change their perspective towards their surroundings; which in turn affects their emotions and behaviours.
Although Aamna applies knowledge of theory to her work, she understands that every individual is unique who brings his own subjective experience to the conversation, which is why she approaches her clients with a fresh perspective giving them the freedom to choose the direction of how they want to move forward with their therapy. Aamns’s clients are able to apply the tools learned in psychotherapy to the outside world making them respond to situations with a positive perspective. Her focus is on the strength of her clients and capacity for meaningful change and self-growth by providing a compassionate and non judgemental therapeutic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Amna Khan has a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and several certifications in the field of mental health. She is registered in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario (CRPO). She is also a member with the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP).
