Clinical Social Workers (Part Time)

Number of Positions: 3 (Mississauga, Brampton and Oakville)

Hours of Work: Flexible (Must be able to work days, evenings and Saturdays)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical counselling to children, youth, adults, couples or families
  • Create and implement treatment plans based on needs of client
  • Write reports as required within required time frame (3 business days)

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct counselling experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of counselling skills and theory as it relates to children, youth, individuals, couples and families
  • Training and experience in preferred modality; EMDR, EFT, CBT, Solution Focused, Critical Incident, Narrative and DBT
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with complex cases
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to provide brief, solution focused work with clients in person, over the phone or via video conferencing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent time management skills as it pertains to scheduling and paperwork
  • Fluency in other languages a bonus

Educational Requirements and Credentials:

  • Masters in Social Work (MSW) or Equivalent; RSW
  • Registered with the OCSWSSW (In good standing)
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Must have Professional Liability Insurance

Psychologist (Part Time)

Number of Positions: 2 (Brampton)

TFEC is currently seeking 2 part time registered psychologists to join The Family Enhancement Centre Inc.  This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the front line community based counselling centre, that relies on best practices in mental health care and strategic partnerships across the circle of care.

Reporting to the QSFHT Executive Director, and working within his/her full scope of practice, the Clinical Psychologist will:

  • provide diagnostic assessment for all ages and demographics- psychoeducational and psychiatric
  • conduct risk assessment of suicidal ideation/behavior, homicidal ideation and / or self-harm
  • formulate & communicate recommendations for clinical management and/or psychotherapeutic treatment
  • provide clinical supervision in the administration & scoring of psychometric measures if required
  • provide comprehensive & detailed recommendations for psychotherapeutic interventions as required
  • communicate diagnoses and treatment / management plans & progress as required
  • provide leadership in the identification of valid & reliable psychometric outcome measures
  • document clinical care activities in Penelope
  • contribute to program planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health program (if applicable)
  • participate in team building, program development and quality improvement activities
  • adhere to organizational policies
  • support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces lifelong learning, diversity, clinical teamwork, privacy, and adherence to professional standards of practice
  • perform other duties as assigned by the Director

Clinical / Professional Competencies & Requirements:

  • D. in psychology from an APA/CPA accredited clinical psychology program with a minimum of 3years
  • registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in good standing with authorized practice in clinical psychology with a wide client population
  • proof of required professional liability insurance
  • experience in the treatment of children, youth and adults is required
  • skills in DSM V diagnosis of psychiatric disorders
  • experience in the administration and interpretation of psychometric assessment of psychiatric / psychological morbidity, personality and behavior to inform diagnosis, case formulation, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and therapeutic outcomes
  • knowledge of the cognitive and behavioral features that can impede integration into the community and symptom / functional recovery and quality of life
  • experience in conducting suicide risk assessments
  • experience in crisis management
  • therapeutic skills relevant to a recovery model of care
  • demonstrated experience in empirically supported individual, couple and family psychotherapeutic modalities and approaches such as Emotional Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, EMDR and Narrative is required
  • excellent oral and written communications skills required
  • advanced critical thinking skills and clinical decision making
  • demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change
  • demonstrated experience and skills in use of computer technology for clinical care

Play Therapists (Full Time & Part Time)

Education: Relevant Counselling Degree and Play Therapist Certification/Training

Specific Focus: The successful candidate will be able to provide the following services:

  • Play Therapy for children aged 3 to 13 years old dealing with a variety of issues
  • Work with parents and families providing support, counselling and education to best meet the needs of the children in play therapy

Qualification:

  • Minimum 5 years direct counselling experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of counselling skills and clinical practice as it relates to children and youth
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with complex cases
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Availability to work flexible hours (days, evenings or weekends)
  • Registered with the OCSWSSW or other appropriate regulatory board
  • Clear vulnerable sector police check
  • Demonstrated crisis intervention skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent time management skills as it pertains to scheduling and paperwork
  • Able to meet timelines independently

 Responsibilities:

  • Provide Play Therapy to children aged 3 to 13 years old dealing with a variety of issues including grief, trauma, separation /divorce, ADHD, etc.
  • Work with parents and families providing support, counselling and education to best meet the needs of the children in play therapy
  • Create treatment plans
  • Write reports as required

 Note: We are looking for qualified therapists to work directly with clients.   Work will be offered on a case by case basis, dependent on availability.
