Donna Richards 

Donna has extensive experience working with couples, individuals, and youth.  Her expertise includes clinical counselling with MVA clients, individuals living with chronic pain management issues anger management issues, and individuals presenting with depression, anxiety, substance-use and other mental health-related challenges.

Donna integrates her therapeutic practice evidence-based approaches to evaluate and address her clients’ personal and familial challenges. Her clinical interventions include, narrative therapy (NT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-focused therapy(SFT),  trauma-informed therapy, , motivational Interviewing (MI) and strength-based approaches.  Donna also utilizes a Client-Directed and outcome-informed clinical work method, that provides an effective means of using clients’ ongoing feedback about the fit of the therapeutic approach and treatment plans utilized.

Qualifications: Donna holds a Masters of Social Work degree with a Collaborative in Addiction Studies (from the University of Toronto) and is in good standing with the OCSWSSW and the OAS. She holds more than 15 years experience in the social services field; both within non-profit and governmental agencies.  She has also obtained certification in advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Levels 1 & 2) and Brief Narrative Therapy. In addition, she also certified in Assessing Parenting Capacity (utilizing the Steinhauer Guidelines).
