Myra Batalvi- Registered Psychotherapist
Myra works with individuals, couples and families seeking to move into healthy relationships and people overwhelmed by maladaptive patterns in their lives. Myra believes that although we are shaped by past experiences, that is no reason to feel bound to patterns that are no longer working. Her aim is to foster a space for you to investigate new and more adaptive ways to think, feel, act, and relate as you progress towards your ultimate potential. She is passionate about helping people overcome their struggles by using clinically tested and evidence-based interventions, including Solution-Focused Therapy, Psycho-Education, Family Systems Therapy and contemporary psychoanalytic techniques.
In her practice, Myra sees individuals, couples and families with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, academic/career transitions, addiction, relationship/family conflicts, phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), acculturation issues, marriage and divorce counselling, grief and trauma. She has experience conducting short-term psychotherapy in a clinical training centre at Columbia University and has provided Art Therapy to cancer patients and their families at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada. As well she has experience providing individual and group counselling for children with Selective Mutism, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Myra’s clients have made steady progress, found creative solutions, and fulfilled their potential in incredible ways. Although therapy can feel like serious business, she strives to create a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere where comfort and results are not mutually exclusive.
