Vinita Puri – MSW, RSW, M.Phil., MSc.
Vinita Puri is a skilled clinician that utilizes strengths-based, anti-oppressive, psycho-therapeutic and evidence-informed treatment modalities to improve outcomes for her clients. For nearly 20 years, Vinita has worked with a diverse range of populations in a variety of community-based settings.
As a Registered Social Worker and Family Mediator/Parent Coordinator in the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia, she has offered professional training, consulting and coaching services in the area of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Crisis Intervention Stress Management (CISM), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Anger Management/Conflict Resolution across Canada.
Vinita possesses a Specialized Honours B.A. in Sociology from York University; a Masters in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masters in Criminological Research from the University of Cambridge (U.K.). As a proud member of the Punjabi Sikh community, she espouses values of social justice and commitment to community service. As such, Vinita volunteers as a Board Member of the Health Providers Against Poverty (HPAP) and Council Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Vinita also volunteers her time as an Ambassador for the Canadian National Institute of the Blind (CNIB) and regularly advocates for improved accessibility and accommodation standards for persons with vision loss and/or blindness.
In her spare time, Vinita enjoys traveling, cooking, dancing, yoga/meditation and participating in cultural events. As a recent graduate from the Ayurveda Institute in North Carolina, Vinita has earned a Masters in Ayurvedic Digestive Pathologies. Therefore she provides diet counselling and coaching services based on Ayurveda principles and treatment. Vinita is an Allied Health Practitioner registered with the Ayurveda Association of Canada (AAC).
