Tammy is a compassionate, empathic and open-minded person. Tammy is of Mi’kmaq and Irish ancestry. Born and raised in downtown Toronto, having the privilege to further understand her people’s culture and traditions as well as learning of Ojibway people’s culture and traditions. She has built strong cultural relationships within her urban Indigenous community of Toronto that she has worked in for over 20 years.
Tammy has a BA in Sociology, Aboriginal studies, and a Bachelor of Social Work Indigenous Field degree with First Nations Technical Institute and my Master of Social Work Indigenous Field degree at Wilfrid Laurier University in partnership with FNTI.
Through these programs, she gained Indigenous holistic knowledge and skills which she will utilize as a clinical practitioner. She has various cultural training such as Indigenous trauma informed training, CBT training level 1, as well as various shared cultural knowledge.
Tammy prides herself in having a holistic two-eyed seeing approach. It is this cultural lens she works with, bringing a genuine, honest and truthful approach to herwork, ensuring she leads with good intentions, a good mind and a strong, empathetic spirit.
Her guiding moral compass is directed by the Seven Grandfather Teachings, which ensures she follows all ethical protocols as a holistic practitioner.
