traditional Land acknowledgement
The Family Enhancement Centre has offices in Brampton and Orangeville, and we recognize that we work on lands with deep and enduring Indigenous histories, relationships, and responsibilities.
Our Brampton office is located on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat Nations. We recognize the Mississaugas of the Credit as the original rights holders and acknowledge Treaty 19, also known as the Ajetance Purchase of 1818.
In Orangeville, we recognize the treaty lands and territory of the Williams Treaty Nations and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also acknowledge Dufferin County as the traditional territory of the Wendat and Haudenosaunee Nations.
We honour the generations of Indigenous peoples who have cared for these lands and continue to shape their communities, cultures, and futures.
As an organization providing counselling and community services, we recognize that meaningful reconciliation requires more than acknowledgement. It calls us to listen, learn, build respectful relationships, and take meaningful action.
Our commitment is to create space for Indigenous voices, strengthen relationships, and support pathways to wellness that reflect the needs, priorities, and knowledge of the communities we have the privilege of working alongside.
